Did you Reboot to lose weight?
Yes
How did you learn about Reboot with Joe?
“Fat, Sick & Nearly Dead” led me here.
What inspired you to do a Reboot?
Prior to this year, my health wasn’t a huge priority for me. I knew it should be, but it just wasn’t. I started to feel like everything in life was getting harder, and my weight was the reason for it. My lack of motivation and activity had a negative effect on my relationship. It’s strange because I didn’t even notice the weight creep up.
The mirror is a funny thing. I would look in the mirror and I would see the same guy I remembered. This led to a denial of sorts. Around Christmas of 2015, my brother came home for a surprise visit. It was filmed, and when I watched it back, I couldn’t believe it was me in the video. I felt shame and it really opened my eyes to what I was doing. It started to make me think about my future. I want a full, healthy life with my future wife and kids. I want to take part in more active things with my friends. I don’t want to continue passing up on all the fun things life has to offer, because I’m too ashamed about how I look (going to cottages, the beach, amusement parks, sports, etc.).
Also, my dad just beat cancer this past year and my girlfriend’s mom is fighting a tough illness as well. I see everything they had to go through, and they didn’t have a choice in the matter. I have a choice. I can take back my health. These things were my inspiration.
How did the experience go for you?
Amazing!!! I actually did not want to stop, I was on such a roll. However, I exceeded my expectations, and felt that it was time to transition into a lifestyle change. I can say now that EVERYTHING in life is better. Even having to go buy a new wardrobe is a good problem to have. I will say this, for anyone who is thinking about doing this: For every amazing person that shows you support and love through your journey, you will find people, even some close to you, that will be haters and hate on your success. I strongly feel as though they aren’t even aware of what they are doing. But it WILL happen. I’ll say this, meet with your doctor before you start. Trust in their guidance. You will not have to answer to anyone else!
How much weight did you lose (even if that wasn’t your goal!)?
What was the toughest part about the Reboot experience?
FIRST 4 DAYS!!! Ok, so to be honest, I didn’t have it as bad as others did for the first few days. Heck, I had it better than you @JoetheJuicer! Man, I still remember that camera catching Joe in bed in his first few days and the look on his face like, really, get outta here guys, I’m dying here! But yea, slight headache day 1. Hunger still present and lethargic days 2-4. Day 5-10 hunger gone, energy slowly creeping back. Day 10-60 I coasted – no hunger, full of energy, could cook meals for my girlfriend, could be present at pot lucks, parties, and BBQ’s with no issues.
What habits have you maintained and kept a part of your everyday life?
I will continue to incorporate fresh juice every morning. In fact, i just had to take a break from writing this to make one. Also, I have continued to be more active, finding fun things to do around town. I also have kicked coffee to the curb. I was a coffee addict. After 60 days without it, I don’t miss it at all. I don’t need it. I will stick to herbal tea.
What is your Lasting Impression of the Reboot experience?
IT WORKS! And it will change your life. EVERYTHING in life gets better. Thank you Joe. Thank you to my wonderful supportive girlfriend Jana. My family, friends, and coworkers. I love life. I’m so thankful!
