HOW DID YOU LEARN ABOUT REBOOT YOUR LIFE?
Netflix changed my life. OK, it was really the Reboot, but I have Netflix to thank for “Recommending” the movie, ‘Fat, Sick, and Nearly Dead’, to me one night when I was looking for something to watch. That’s how it started.

WHAT INSPIRED YOU TO DO A REBOOT?
After watching the movie, I was so inspired and hopeful that I decided I wanted to do a Reboot myself. I needed a Reboot: a Reboot of my eating habits and of my life altogether. I never wanted to be one of those people. You know, the ones who let themselves go once they get married. I don’t think I did that per se intentionally. But, I definitely didn’t get myself in check year after year that I gained weight. Eating just an extra 100 calories a day can lead to a 10 pound weight gain per year.
That’s about right… 7.5 years of marriage x 100 calories a day = BAM… 75 pounds!!!
I finally decided that life is too short to live perpetually unhappy.
I took the quiz on the Reboot website, and it recommended the Quick Start Reboot: 5 days of eating fruits and veggies followed by 5 days of just juice. So that’s where I started. In preparation for the Reboot, I cut out all sugar and I weaned myself off of coffee (fairly quickly). I used to drink two cups a day, then went down to one cup a day for a few days, then half a cup a day for another few days, and within a week I was completely off it, symptom and headache-free.
I bought a cheap juicer from Walmart to get started. It was only $29, so not too much of a commitment at first. I had to convince myself (and mostly my frugal hubby) that this was something I was going to do as a lifestyle change, not just a fad “diet” idea.

HOW DID THE REBOOT EXPERIENCE GO FOR YOU?
The Reboot itself went really well for me. I loved trying all of the different juice recipes on the website. I settled into Mean Green #2 as my all time favorite, followed by homemade V8 and beet/carrot/apple juice. The first few days of just juice were the hardest, but by day 3 or so, I had settled into the routine. I found I had enough energy to get through my day.

I ended up losing about 8 lbs. during the Reboot itself, but what it did for me was so much more. It did what it promised: it Rebooted my eating habits. By the end, I no longer craved sugar/sweets AT ALL. I completely stopped coffee and all soda (even diet). It kick-started my weight-loss (which had been non-existent) and gave me the momentum to keep losing more. I had so much more energy, but most importantly: Hope. Hope that my life (and weight) could really change.

WHAT REBOOT HABITS HAVE YOU MAINTAINED AND KEPT AS PART OF YOUR EVERYDAY LIFE?
After the Reboot, I continued to juice every night for another couple of months. I would supplement the juice into my regular diet, adding more fruits and veggies and smaller portions of regular food. I found it especially helpful to drink juice between 2 and 3PM in the afternoon, when I would naturally need an energy boost. I have lost a total of 44 lbs with this new lifestyle!

My hubby bought me a nicer Breville juicer for my birthday, once he realized this “juicing thing” wasn’t going away. And my vegetable-hating-hubby even started drinking the juice with me, kale and all!

WHAT IS YOUR LASTING IMPRESSION AND TAKE-AWAY FROM THE REBOOT EXPERIENCE?
Now we juice every couple of days. I have since started a weight-loss, healthy eating blog called www.nosugarsweetlife.com about all the makings of a happy healthy life… no sugar added. I share easy meal ideas, healthy substitutions, easy-to- follow recipes and pictures, encouragement, and my daily journey to lose (another) 40lbs! I even have step-by-step juicing instructions and tips to make it easier. I am so thankful for the movie I watched and that I took the steps to actually do the Reboot. I highly recommend it to any of you who might be on the fence about it. What do you have to lose? (except maybe 40lbs. like me!)

Sincerely,
Kelly P.
